- Take the embossed white Friends cardstock and gently ink a few of the words and quotes on the background, as well as the entire outer edge.
- Cut the red lace paper to 2x12. Mount to edge of background paper.
- Cut the mats to the measurements shown, ink all edges, and mount in place. Use pop dots for the largest mat.
- Layer the large flower small circle punch, brad, and ribbon and mount to lower corner with the brad through the background. Dont forget to ink the flower center.

*Additional supplies used on layout but not included: Pop dots and blue chalk ink.
1. The colors I chose to use were blue, green, white, and red. Red is a warm powerful color, and by using it only as an accent, it creates very strong visual interest. The rest of the colors (blue and green) are cool, or neutral (white) and calm the layout down. 2. One of the neatest tricks on this layout is the inking of the embossed paper. By lightly brushing the ink pad over the embossed wording, the details of the paper emerge. Simply place the paper flat on the table, and then lightly drag the ink pad over the desired spots. The look is not perfectly clean, so dont worry if some of the background paper gets inked too. 3. All of the mats were inked with a blue Cats Eye Chalk Ink pad. To ink an edge, simply drag the edge of the ink pad perpendicularly to the edge of the paper. An inked edge lends a distressed or aged look to the paper, and it also helps to pop the mat off the background. 4. The
green gingham ribbon is used as an accent to the large flower and as a border on the right
side. The ribbon border works to conveniently hide the seam of the red lace
paper. By using the ribbon on both the left and right sides, the technique helps to unify
the 2 sides. Always try to unify your layout by bouncing colors and techniques from side
to side. In this way, you can get a layout that looks coordinated but not boring. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
