1. The most unique feature of this layout is the embellished title strips. A title is the perfect opportunity to inform AND embellish! Embellishments get lost on a page if they are not anchored to larger elements.

2. The letters that were used are from the die cut center in our classroom, and are free to use anytime! This font is called “Dot”, and it was just begging for those colorful brads and the flower stickers! On the letters that were popped up, simply fold both legs of the brads to one side, and then place a pop dot right over. Make sure you add enough pop dots to keep it evenly popped. When piercing the holes for each brad, try using a mouse pad, Coluzzle mat, or any other spongy type surface to absorb the point of the paper piercer. It makes the job easier and safer!

3. The colors I chose to use were blue, green, straw, and just splashes of yellow, pink, and orange. The dominant blue and green colors were chosen because they “felt” like spring to me, and because they were colors that worked with both the pattern paper and the swimsuit stickers. The straw paper is neutral in color and reminds me of a beach mat, so I plugged it in!

4. One of my favorite new tricks is the stapled ribbon! A knotted ribbon accent is the cutest thing in the whole world, but how the heck do you get it to stay on?? Put the glue away! Simply staple the ribbon down where you want it, then give it a single knot. When I apply the staple I like to orient it vertically, for some reason it make the knot ends stick out horizontally. Try a practice shot or two to get the hang of it.

5. I added the large silk flowers because they look like sunshine and because most of my layouts seem to have flowers! They add texture and a touch of nature that always seems to look great to me.
