1. The most unique feature of this layout is the use of the Tim Holtz Grunge Board material. The tag, flower center, and accent strip were all die cut, punched, or cut into shape from a larger sheet. This stuff is a lot of fun and can be painted, inked, sanded etc. It is a really neat way to get creative!

2. The colors I chose to use were blue and 2 multi colored patterns. The dominant colors are blue and orange, which are complimentary colors. Complimentary colors can be found directly across from one another on a color wheel. There really is a science to why colors look good together!

3. The pattern papers are actually double-sided, so as you are cutting them, take care to conserve the pretty flowery piece that was used under the tag and flower accent. Double-sided papers are my favorite to use, if you like layering patterns, you get a great value!

4. The letters that were used are from the die cut center in our classroom, and are free to use anytime! This font is called “Roman”.

5. The cute Making Memories brads come with a very cool and useful piece of foam. Use that foam piece anytime you want to pierce a hole through multiple layers of paper, or in this case that super thick Grunge Board. You will save yourself a potential injury, so save it and use it whenever you are using brads!

6. One of my favorite new tricks is the stapled ribbon technique that we used last month! A knotted ribbon accent is the cutest thing in the whole world, but how the heck do you get it to stay on?? Put the glue away! Simply staple the ribbon down where you want it, then give it a single knot. The ribbon will stay in place, and the staple will be hidden under the knot.
